As cooler days draw in, Pret is giving us plenty of reasons to swap our normal rushed desk lunch for something a little more comforting (and still good value!). This week, the coffee shop chain launched its new 'Pick Your Pair' lunch deal, which allows you to choose two items from a selection of lighter options – think: half baguettes, sandwiches and flatbreads; side soups and salads; and protein pots – for £4.99. You might have spotted the offer over the summer, when Pret trialled it, and now it's back to give you more flexibility over your lunch.
You might fancy pairing a half sandwich with soup for a hearty meal on a cooler day, or opt for a protein pot and side salad when you want a lighter lunch. Or, for a money-saving hack, go for two of your favourite half sandwiches to get a whole sarnie for less than it would normally cost.
We think it's pretty good value, as some items in the offering could easily see you spending over £7 when combined. It might also be tempting if you're someone who faces decision fatigue at lunchtime – being able to mix-and-match two items means you don't need to commit to just one! And, though it's designed for lunch, you can grab the offer all day long – but if you're after soup, be aware that it normally hits the shelf from 12pm onwards.
It's worth noting that this offer can't be used alongside any other offers or discounts, including the Club Pret subscription, if you have one.
Pret’s set for the new season with its autumn menu
As if the meal deal wasn't enough, Pret also launched its comforting autumn menu, just in time for a dip in temperatures outside. On offer is a selection of warm ciabattas, seasonal drinks, soups, snacks and a cosy new breakfast.
Ciabattas
There's been a trend for chicken caesar salad being reimagined in new ways this year – we've spotted wraps, dips, pizzas and pasta dishes taking inspiration from the classic lunch – so it's no surprise that Pret has give it a twist, too. The hot, melty ciabatta is packed with chicken, bacon, caesar dressing, cheese and spring onions. If you like Mexican-style flavours, there’s also a warm beef birria & jalapeño ciabatta, and for vegetarians, the warm three cheese & tomato option will become a favourite in no time – it includes an indulgent combination of cheddar, mozzarella and Italian-style cheese with roasted tomatoes, basil and red tapenade.
Drinks
S'mores have been another big flavour trend recently, and Pret's taken note with its new toasted marshmallow latte, combining espresso and steamed milk with toasted marshmallow flavour and a swirl of marshmallow-flavoured whipped cream. There’s also a toasted marshmallow hot chocolate to try, plus the seasonal stalwart pumpkin spice latte.
Soups
We were really excited to see the return of Pret's seasonal soup rota, which includes creamy roast chicken and butter chicken this year, alongside an improved 'souper' tomato recipe and returning mushroom risotto and lasagne options.
Pasties and sweet treats
Pret's also added a variety of warm, savoury pastries – spinach & feta and bacon, cheese & jalapeño, both of which would go down a treat dunked into a side of soup. In the sweet treats line-up, the loaded chocolate chunk banana bread with miso caramel glaze & caramelised almonds sounds particularly good, but there are also chocolate hazelnut praline cookies and triple chocolate cookies to try.
And, if you're after a warming breakfast, there's a new banana cinnamon porridge to sink your spoon into – something we'd consider getting out of bed for!
